Open a Program

If you are considering opening a child care program, you have two options: home-based (family child care) or center-based care.

Home-Based Child Care Program

Interested in caring for children in your own home and getting paid for it? The Eastern Shore Child Care Resource Center can help you get started through the Growing Opportunities for Family Child Care (GOFCC) program.

This program is designed for people who want to open a small child care business at home but aren’t sure where to begin. The ESCCRC will provide step-by-step help, including:

  • Signing you up for state-required training at no cost to you
  • Coaching you on setting up and running your business
  • Guiding you through the administrative process to complete Maryland licensing requirements
  • Mentoring you on day-to-day strategies of managing your own child care business

Getting started is easy. Visit OpenChildCareToday.com and fill out a short form. Someone will contact you to talk about next steps and how the ESCCRC can help you open your own home-based child care program. For more details, visit: marylandfamilynetwork.org/GOFCC

Center-Based Child Care Program

Interested in opening a child care center – an early childhood program made up of classrooms of children based on age? Our team can help you get started.

Call us at 410-543-6650 to contact a coach who will:

  • Help you plan your child care center
  • Guide you through the steps to get licensed
  • Support you as you set up your program

Coaching is supported by the Maryland State Department of Education’s Division of Early Childhood, which helps ensure quality child care and early learning programs.
